Automakers should not even have access to any of your information!

No company or entity should have the ability to sell my information. And at the very least not have access to it without my consent.

Especially if it influences how much I pay for insurance. Next thing you know, if you live near a McDonalds, your health insurance is gonna go up.

More that peoples’ movement data isn’t worth much, so it wouldn’t be a big deal to impose legal requirements on keeping it private.

      As Sen. Wyden says:

This is timely in light of JD Vance’s comments about wanting to surveil the body of every woman in America. I just dropped a new investigation into car companies selling off your private location data to shady data brokers. The case for federal privacy legislation has never been stronger.

And that’s why the top 500 companies should be publicly owned

Someone posted this recently, how to opt out of data collection.

At some point, that car won’t be cost-effective to repair, and you’ll want to replace it. Be a lot better to have strong privacy legislation in place when that happens.

Headline makes it sound like the senators previously urged the FTC but were ignored.

    Two things:

1: The “urging” mentioned took place today.

    2:

In March, the F.T.C., which is responsible for policing unfair and deceptive business practices, solicited reports from consumers about the issue, but an agency spokeswoman said she couldn’t comment on whether the agency is investigating.
