Cuaron redefined the look of the series so much every director coming after him tried to ape it.
That doesn’t mean Chris Columbus didn’t an important and great bit of world building, especially in the first one.
Cuaron would probably have been the wrong choice for the first two movies and Yates definitely would have been, since he only seems to be able to do drab and dark.
I loved that. Similar to the books, it took on a darker turn. People who grew up with them, it felt like the books/movies matured at the same time!
Director changes will do that
8?
Book 7 was split into 2 movies…unfortually the wrong half got longer run time, but that’s beside the point.
Movies not books.
2 was honestly pretty dark already… a posessed 11 year old girl just wandering around petrifying people and killing chickens.
