I am aware of it but it doesn’t always exist for my exact needs or I don’t need an app for a one time job.

Same here. I never tried it to write code before but I recently needed to mass convert some image files. I didn’t want to use some sketchy free app or pay for one for a single job. So I asked chatgpt to write me some python code to convert from X to Y, convert in place, and do all subdirectories. It worked right out of the box. I was pretty impressed.
I was annoyed that it wasn’t over her mouth to implant the egg.
I use it as a glorified manual. I’ll ask it about specific error codes and “how do I” requests. One problem I keep running into is I’ll tell it the exact OS version and app version I’m using and it will still give me commands that don’t work with that version. Sometimes I’ll tell it the commands don’t work and restate my parameters and it will loop around to its original response in a logic circle.
At least it doesn’t say “Never mind, I figured out the solution” like they do too often in stack exchange.
Wait until AI reduces it to just owners.
Odds are there will be no other options left for us and we’ll have to use them whether we like it or not.
Better yet, they buy a company, take a loan out against the company, pocket the cash and then leave the struggling company with the extra debt. When it dies they leave the scraps to be sold and employees and others owed money are left out to dry.
I worked in one. It was just a job and not that bad.
You’ll be here complaining about how you can’t find a human with customer support
I’ve never seen anything good come from companies with the words “equity” or “capital” in their names.
I’m thinking the only way people will be able to do schoolwork without cheating now is going to be to make them sit in a monitored room and finish it there.
I can’t imagine dealing with a room full of kids, especially ones with phone addictions.
Going to have generations of people unable to think analytically or creatively, and just as bad, entering fields that require a real detailed knowledge of the subject and they don’t. Going to see a lot of fuck ups in engineering, medicine, etc because of people faking it.
Enshittification marches on
“Hey you stupid assholes, buy this car!”
I thought social media was doing it already
It is very vague and it says it is not for performance reasons. I wonder if early retirement packages are being offered too. If they are getting rid of some management layers they are looking to remove some of the higher paid staff so they can bring in younger folks who will be making less to start and also opening up opportunities for advancement. Over time those management layers get overfilled and no one below them can move up and that incentive is lost.
“The meeting was about polishing yaks. The conclusion was green is important fudge.”
I feel this.
